In Spain, the Law of Democratic Memory 20/2022, known as the Grandchildren’s Law, recognizes the right to opt for Spanish nationality to foreigners who apply before October 21, 2025 and who meet the following requirements:

Those born outside Spain of a father, mother, grandfather or grandmother of Spanish origin who, because they had to go into exile, had lost or renounced their Spanish nationality.
Sons and daughters born outside Spain to Spanish women who lost their nationality because they married foreigners before the Spanish Constitution came into force.
The adult sons and daughters of Spanish nationals whose nationality of origin was recognized by virtue of the right of option.
